Ms. K. Yasotha, an experienced corporate trainer in the areas of business communication, personal development, leadership, customer service, public speaking as well as writing skills, has more than 16 years of experience in the education and training industry.She has trained participants from various leading institutes and multinational organizations in Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Vietnam. Her participants comprise officers, support staff, secretaries, executives and managers from numerous corporate sectors.

Having been the Customer Relations Manager for an international organization, she imparts the essential skills and knowledge that are pertinent to ensure the highest quality of service to internal and external customers while maintaining professional business etiquette. In addition, she has also published course books entitled “Easy English / Working English” for the National Productivity Board (NPB) of Singapore.

Module 1 - Understanding the Basics of English Grammar

  • The basics of subject and verb agreement

  • Forming regular and irregular verbs

  • Tenses – correct usage of present, past and future tenses

  • Using has, have and had appropriately

  • Avoiding double comparatives and superlatives

  • Grasping prepositions of time and place

Module 2 - Applying Standard English at the Workplace

  • Special meanings of modal auxiliaries

  • Applying polite language (use of modals –may, could, would)

  • Using correct grammatical construction using modals

  • Awareness of standard English when interacting professionally

  • Non-standard English that should be avoided at the workplace

  • Commonly used idiomatic expressions in conversational English

Module 3 – Using Situational English at the Workplace

  • Giving accurate directions and clear instructions

  • Asking for explanations to ensure clarity of message

  • Interrupting, suggesting and objecting politely

  • Expressing opinions and ideas with confidence

  • Meeting and greeting your customers politely

  • Asking for and giving relevant information

  • Apologizing and offering explanations to customers

  • Conversing politely with customers on the telephone

Module 4 – Improving Pronunciation and Building Vocabulary

  • The influence of the mother tongue in English pronunciation - “l & r”, “v & w” , “t & th” , “s & sh”

  • Recognizing silent letters in words for accurate pronunciation

  • Practice on pronouncing commonly used words with confidence

  • Expanding vocabulary using synonyms
